Is transitioning your underwear to 100% cotton a trend or has your gynecologist finally convinced you this is best for your vaginal health? Regardless, I've noticed people taking notice of natural fabrics for their bodies instead of the nylons, polyesters, and acrylics of the world, and maybe that's because I'm on crunchy Instagram from time to time.
What are natural fibers? It might be obvious to you, but wool, silk, and cotton are among the most common natural fibers in the world. Think about the OG garments back when we still took horses and carriages. So what's the big deal? Natural fabrics are found on earth, unlike many of the synthetics, which are typically made of plastic. As our consumerism continues to grow, these clothes are ending up in landfills in impoverished countries and they don't. break. down. Okay...so what? While cotton has a similar need for manipulation by factories and utilizes a lot of water, it breaks down over time if you (or Goodwill) decides to throw it away.
Anyway, I'm not here to make a sustainability argument, you're probably here for the accumulation of cotton underwear I've found on the internet. What boils down to being the most important factor is cotton is better for your vaginal health. It doesn't trap smells, bacteria, and it lets your coochie breathe (c/o to Sexyy Red in Rich Baby Daddy).
